SSC CGL Selection Process
The selection process for the post of SSC CGL is quite long as compared to the other SSC exams. The process of selection is as follows
- Tier I

All candidates are eligible to take part in the Tier I Exam but only the selected candidates of each stage will be allowed to take part in the next stage.
Exam Syllabus and Pattern
Tier I
Before going to apply for any job vacancy everyone first checks for the eligibility criteria and the syllabus for the exam. The exam syllabus for the Tier I is as follows
- General Intelligence and Reasoning

- English Comprehension
Tier I Pattern:
- There is 25 question on each topic.
- Each section is of 50 marks.
- The total number of 100 questions will be asked in the exam.
- The Exam will be 200 marks.
- There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks.
Tier II
- Quantitative Abilities
- English Language and Comprehension
- Statistics
- General Studies (Finance & Economic)
Tier II Pattern:
- There are 100 questions from 1st, 3rd, 4th topic and 200 questions form 2nd topic.
- Each section is of 200 marks.
- There will be a total 500 question in the exam.
- The exam will be of 800 marks.
Tier III
- Descriptive paper in English/Hindi
- Essay writing/Precis/Letter/Application writing etc.
- Total marks are 100.
- Total time is 60 minutes.
Tier IV
- Date entry skill test/ Computer Proficiency Test
